With deepest respect for the religious traditions of all Alaskans, I offer this prayer: Almighty God, from whom comes every good and perfect gift, we thank you for the blessings of this day: those most obvious to us and those still unfolding before our eyes. We thank you for the beauty of this country and the abundance of both land and sea. By your grace help these, thy servants, to steward that wealth with care and reverence and somehow meet the responsibility of preserving both this legacy and the opportunity these riches provide for all our people. We know and honor that these public 2011-05-09 House Journal Page 1208 servants have other responsibilities for home and business which they must lay aside to serve the citizens of our state. Bless the endeavors of their life away from here as you bless the efforts of employers and employees throughout our state to provide honorable industry and opportunity for all. We ask thy blessing upon the work of these legislators here gathered, for their staff, and all who support the work of sound government on our behalf. It has been taught us that for every purpose there is a season and that the seasons turn from winter to spring to summer to fall again and with them the light of day, the flowering of the fields, and the strength of animals on the land and sea. To the work of these who labor to govern the people of this great land, we ask thy blessing and thy governance that having done the work to which they have been called with all the skill and patience at their command, you speed them safely on their way to homes and the loved ones who have lent them to us for a time now coming to a close. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Neuman.
