Representatives Edgmon, Feige, Gara, Gardner, Hawker, Munoz, Petersen, and Tuck had been excused from a call of the House today. Representative Austerman moved and asked unanimous consent that the following members be excused from a call of the House. There being no objection, the members were excused as noted: Representative Saddler - today Representative Millett - from today to 9:40 a.m., May 1 The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Representative Holmes. Representative P. Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer. Dear God, Rather than be discouraged by current challenges, let us be thankful for the privilege of living under the protections and 2011-04-30 House Journal Page 1166 the checks and balances afforded by our constitution. Help us to remember that as representatives we have been given a unique ability and responsibility to serve the greater good-of which there is no higher purpose. Let us strive every day to deserve the trust that has been placed in us. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Johnson. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Austerman moved and asked unanimous consent that th the journal for the 12 legislative day of the first special session be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk. There being no objection, it was so ordered. CONSIDERATION OF THE DAILY CALENDAR LEGISLATIVE CITATIONS Representative Austerman moved and asked unanimous consent that the House approve the citation on the calendar. The Speaker stated that, without objection, the House would recess to a Call of the Chair; and so, the House recessed at 11:11 a.m. 2011-04-30 House Journal Page 1167 AFTER RECESS The Speaker called the House back to order at 4:01 p.m. ENROLLMENT HB 16 The following was enrolled, signed by the Speaker and Chief Clerk, President and Secretary of the Senate, and the engrossed and enrolled copies were transmitted to the Office of the Governor at 3:40 p.m., April 30, 2011: SENATE CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 16(FIN) "An Act extending the senior benefits payment program; and relating to income allowances for medical assistance recipients and Alaska Pioneers' Homes and Alaska Veterans' Homes residents." ANNOUNCEMENTS With appointment of the Conference Committee on the operating budget, Rule 23(d) of the Uniform Rules is in effect as of April 6, 2011.
