With deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer this prayer: Almighty God, creator of the universe: We thank you for this day. We thank you for giving us this good land as our home. Bless this land and its people with fruitful industry, upright leadership, and an honorable way of life for all. Save us from violence, discord and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every kind of evil. When times are prosperous, let our hearts be thankful; and, in troubled times, do not let our trust in you fail. Make us, who come from so many different places, faiths, and traditions, a united people. 2011-04-11 House Journal Page 0898 I ask your blessing on the men and women of our armed services, at home and abroad, and pray that you protect them and return them safely to their homes and families when their service is done. I ask a special blessing for those who serve in this building - that we may do your work in a spirit of wisdom and kindness and love - so that there might be justice and respect and peace throughout our state. In all things, inspire us by the example of he who gave his life so that all might have life, your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative T. Wilson.
