Representative Thompson had been excused from a call of the House today. Representatives Hawker and Seaton were absent. Representative Austerman moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Cissna be excused from a call of the House from today to 6:00 p.m., February 23. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Dr. Paul Beran, Pastor Emeritus of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Representative P. Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. I invite each of us to a time of silence, inner reflection, and prayer in our own way. Gracious God, on this Presidents' Day, we remember and give you thanks for those leaders who put their nation ahead of themselves. We are thankful for the privilege, honor, and responsibility of being representatives in this unique and diverse state of Alaska. This morning and every day lift our vision way beyond the next election to the people and the needs of our state. As we seek to give wise leadership, give 2011-02-21 House Journal Page 0304 us that integrity that enables us to hear that still small voice within and the courage to heed it.
