In all our wisdom and centuries of searching, you are still beyond our full comprehension. And yet, we are called to use the gifts of our various ways of knowing to live life fully and faithfully. Guide us to open our minds, our hearts, our whole selves and lead us in your ways. When we think we have the only understanding of the truth, grant us the humility to hear others' perspectives and know our own limits. When we think our answers are the only right ones, grant us liberation from our foolish pride and give us greater vision. 2010-03-24 Senate Journal Page 1944 Too often we are like the blind seekers who are each touching a different part of an elephant and failing to recognize that each perception leads to the total knowledge. We need to sincerely listen and hear each other with open hearts, minds and lives in order to live by your ways. Clear our preconceived notions and our prejudices of each speaker. Guide us to see greater solutions for the good of all of your people and your creation. Guide especially our leaders gathered here today and those in leadership at all levels in our nation and our world. Amen. Senator Menard led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
