The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Vicar Michael J. Steckel of Faith Lutheran Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Dear Lord, your servant David said in Psalm 133, "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore." Gracious God we praise and thank you for this vast, beautiful and diverse place called Alaska. We give thanks for those who are willing to serve in this state. Be with each member of this legislative session as they work to see how this state's resources can be used responsibly and its beauty can be preserved. Also, grant to them vision and wisdom as they work to provide leadership, tools and resources so all Alaskans can live good and pleasant lives together in unity. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. 2010-01-25 Senate Journal Page 1306 Senator Stedman led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
