Senator Therriault was excused from a call of the Senate. Senators Cowdery, McGuire were absent. Senator Ellis moved and asked unanimous consent that Senator McGuire be excused from a call of the Senate today. Without objection, Senator McGuire was excused. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Senator Dyson. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, We are grateful for the mercy you have offered us and the love you have shown. We pray that we might treat our compatriots with similar love and mercy. We are humbled and grateful for the responsibility that we have here to represent the people of the great State of Alaska. We ask you to guide us, empower us, and use us to serve them and you. We ask that you might be glorified through us and that we might be "good and faithful servants." Watch over our loved ones body and spirit. Certification Senator Ellis moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the twenty-eighth legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered. Messages from the House Message dated August 6 was read, stating the House passed and transmitted for consideration: First Reading and Reference of House Bills HB 4001 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 4001(FIN) BY THE HOUSE FINANCE COMMITTEE, entitled: "An Act making supplemental appropriations, capital appropriations, and other appropriations; making appropriations to capitalize funds; and providing for an effective date." was read the first time and referred to the Finance Committee. Recess Senator Ellis moved and asked unanimous consent that the Senate stand in recess to a call of the Chair.
