Senator Kookesh was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Dan Wanders of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Gracious god of all peoples, we are thankful for the wisdom and experience that come from the diverse paths that have brought the members of this senate to this time and place in the history of Alaska. We pray that these senators can so work together that public attitudes toward government are elevated, and constituents, especially the voiceless and overlooked, will know that they have been attended to.
