Senators Cowdery, Dyson, Kookesh were excused from a call of the Senate. Senator Wilken was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Dr. Zimmerman of the Chapel by the Lake. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Sovereign Lord of our Nation; I claim once again our heritage as a nation under God. Graciously continue the commitment of this Senate to lead our state in paths of justice and righteousness for all Alaskans. Deliver the members of the Senate from the tyranny of the urgent in order that they may focus their time and energy on the issues of greatest importance for the strengthening of the State of Alaska. Grant to each one the ability to attend to the legislation that must have priority and to contribute to its timely consideration. When the sun sets this evening and responsibilities of the day are finally completed, may each Senator rest in the satisfaction that comes when the tasks are concluded and the work is well done. SB 170 Forthcoming Health, Education and Social Services Committee Letter of Intent (page 1856) for SENATE BILL NO. 170 "An Act requiring that health care insurers provide insurance coverage for well-baby exams" was received today: Letter of Intent The Alaska Legislature recognizes the importance of well baby exams as a routine and necessary part of preventative pediatric health care. It is the intent of the Legislature that in the consideration of well baby exam coverage, the Division of Retirement and Benefits remains consistent with its past record of adopting all state mandated coverages as a part of its standard health care plan for state employees.
