Senators Cowdery, Dyson, French, Kookesh, Olson, Stevens, Therriault were excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Thomas Weise of the Cathedral of the Nativity. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. From Psalm 19 (excerpted from Psalms for Praying by Nan C. Merril) The heavens declare the glory of the Creator; The firmament proclaims the handiwork of Love.
