Senator Kookesh was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Tom Matthews of the Douglas Island Bible Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Dear Lord, Thank you for the wisdom of the Alaskan people who chose this body of leaders to represent them in the decisions that need to be made for this great state. I would pray for each man and woman here today, that your hand would be on them for guidance and wisdom. Your Word tells us that you are indeed active in the affairs of man. Let us recognize that and count on that, thanking you for your divine guidance. Lord, I just want to take a moment today and pray for the troops from Alaska that are representing this state and this magnificent country. Thank you that they are defending freedom in various places overseas such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you for this grand state you gave them to be raised in and the influence it no 2007-02-26 Senate Journal Page 0368 doubt made on them during their formative years. Thank you for their willingness to serve, even in such a difficult time. I pray for your protection of them, I pray that there could soon be an end to these wars that would allow them to return unharmed. As we lift up this Senate body today Lord, I would ask you to guide each representative in the course of justice and equity. That decisions made would stem from lives of integrity. It is not an easy course that you have given them to take. Give them the strength and endurance to see this task through to its completion. I lift these prayers before you today Lord in the power and authority of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. Senator Olson led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Stevens moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the thirty-ninth through forty-first legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary.
