Mindful of all the possibilities of faith, let us pray. God of every people, place, and time, let us begin this week of legislation by remembering the foundation of all justice without which no law can serve the common good. Let us remember trust, let us consider faithfulness, let us call forth every facet of personal integrity that provides justice its true form and the virtues against which there is no law. In the blessed freedom of the Spirit's gifts of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self- control, may our trust in you grow to encompass all that is achieved in this chamber. I ask, O God of justice, mercy, and faith, to lay down the law of compassion in our hearts so that our peace with you and with our neighbors everywhere may be secured.
