There being no objection, it was so ordered. With respect for the various faiths that are represented here, I offer this prayer. Father, you who cause nations to rise and to fall in the course of history, I thank you for this state and the country in which we live. Thank you for the men and women who had the courage to establish this nation and the bravery to defend it against its enemies. Thank you for those who had the foresight to make Alaska a part of our nation and for those pioneers who came before us. 2007-04-18 House Journal Page 0818 I thank you for these students that are here today, Father. May they come to have an appreciation for their state government and for the freedoms that we enjoy as Americans. I pray today for the men and women of our armed forces at home and around the world; thank you for their service and their sacrifice. Many today are in harm's way; watch over them and protect them as they give their lives so that others may have some of the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. As this House of Representatives goes about its business, guide these men and women to do their part in protecting the freedoms that we have. May their decisions be a blessing to Alaska and to its citizens. I pray these things in the name of Jesus, who truly sets people free. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Edgmon.
