As we begin our common work together, let us focus our thoughts in prayer. A lone eagle soars high against the wind that challenges its strength. The single fishing boat is buffeted by the waves which threaten its purpose. Beneath the frozen river runs a current that is strong enough to change the face of the land. 2007-02-26 House Journal Page 0320 And a moose lumbers through the deep snow with relentless power as it searches for food. All this and more are the gifts of the creation that is Alaska which we have been given by you - the Creator, Author, and God of the universe. As stewards of wonders and resources which surround and sustain us, each day we face the challenges to do what is right and just in our decisions and actions. God of wisdom and knowledge, focus our personal efforts with strength of will that will change, challenge, or renew the search for what is right for this land and the people who live here. Bring to our debates, discussions and exchanges of thoughts and ideas in the business of this day, those blessings of reason and understanding which you have given to each of us. Guide our actions, guard our reactions, and place our every decision in the midst of what is best for the common good so that, when we come to the end of this day, each of us may feel satisfaction and pride in the work that you have given us to do. For it is within your power and authority that we have the honor to serve this great state and its people. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Kelly.
