Senator Seekins was excused from a call of the Senate. Senators Olson, Therriault were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Brian Ewing of the Calvary Fellowship. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Teach me, O Lord, to follow every one of Your principles. Give me understanding and I will obey Your law; I will put it into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of Your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Give me an eagerness for Your decrees; do not inflict me with love for money! Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through Your word. Reassure me of Your promise, which is for those who honor You. Help me abandon my shameful ways; Your laws are all I want in life. I long to obey Your commandments! Renew my life with Your goodness. (Psalm 119:33-40) Thank You, Father, for each of these men and women gathered here today. We thank You for the Word of God. It is a reliable constant, an unchanging standard that we can live by. 2006-03-07 Senate Journal Page 2392 Father, be a light in the darkness for us today. Forgive those who are here today and know what Your word says but have rejected it. Be merciful to them. Give them another day's breath and another opportunity to seek Your face. Forgive us who know Your word and love it and yet at times contradict it in our lives. Enable us to truly represent You in our lives. In the name of Jesus the Living Word I ask this. Amen.
