The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Major Nila Fankhauser of The Salvation Army. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, today I want to thank You for those closest to us, our families. I bring to You the family of each Senator, their spouse, children, perhaps grandchildren and elderly parents of some, those most dear to them. I ask that You will keep them safe and bless them with good health. I pray that You will give each one a sense of pride and not resentment because the time that is robbed from them is for the good of our state. The Senators each give sacrificially, but their families do as well. Lord, I pray that You will compensate them with numerous blessings and a feeling that they are partners in this lawmaking process. Again, I ask for their safety, good health and well being, enough so that each Senator will have peace in their heart and be able to give him or herself fully to the task at hand. May each feel a special touch of Your love and care this day. Amen. Senator Bunde led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2003-05-08 Senate Journal Page 1242 Certification Senator Ben Stevens moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the one hundred seventh legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary.
