Mr. Speaker, Honorable Representatives, members of the staff, distinguished guests and visitors: Alaskans enjoy a rich diversity of religious beliefs and spirituality, and it is with deepest respect for all that this prayer is offered. Let us pray. Creator Spirit, We are surrounded by Your creation. We hear the sounds of Your creation: the song of the humpback whale, the roar of the mighty bear, the bark of the sea lion, and the cry of eagle and raven. We also hear the sounds of Your people: the people who live in beautiful houses, the people who live on the street, the people in the villages, the people in the cities, and the people who live by the sea. Grant that we might not 2003-02-05 House Journal Page 0126 only hear their voices, but listen--listen--listen. Then, when we have truly heard all of these speak, guide us as we weigh our thoughts, weigh our words, weigh our actions, and cast our votes. Amen.
