Senators Elton, Therriault were excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Greg Clark of the Glacier Valley Baptist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him? And the Son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels and You have crowned him with glory and Honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands, You have put all things under his feet. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8: 1, 3-6, 9) Father, we welcome this day with thanksgiving, thankful that we live in a land where we can openly proclaim that we are a nation "under God." You have blessed us like no other nation on the face of the earth and we know with those blessings come responsibilities. Therefore, I pray for our senators that You will help them to rule with righteousness and justice. Help them to think clearly, to choose wisely, and to act soberly in judgment. 2001-01-30 Senate Journal Page 0210 I pray, O Lord, that You would give us a sense of dependence upon You and that You would enable us to exercise our faith in Your divine power. Help us to be humble in our prosperity and patient in our adversity. Help us to recognize those in need and to respond to those needs with compassion, just as You have shown compassion on us. May we trust Your guidance through the remainder of our day and may everything done in this place be pleasing in Your sight. Amen. Senator Olson led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Leman moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the twenty-second legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered.
