Senators Pete Kelly, Lincoln, Mackie, Miller, Taylor were excused from a call of the Senate. Senator Green was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Mike Rose of the Bethel Assembly of God. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Lord, as we pause in Your presence this morning, we pray for divine perspective in this day. Help us to consider who You are, and how great and awesome Your power is. We are reminded by Your Word that Your mercies are new every morning. We find comfort that You know the end from the beginning, and while we can count the seeds in an apple, You can count the apples in a seed. Teach us to number our days and to apply our hearts to the ways of wisdom. Help us not to fret and become anxious today, but instead help us to commit the situations into Your care and keeping. Keep us ever mindful that Your ways are higher, and that You are actively working in the circumstances of our lives. May Your kingdoms objectives be done today, Your will accomplished in our lives as it is in Heaven. We pray for guidance today in these chambers, and we ask that You guard and protect the families represented here. Thank You for Your faithfulness. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen. 2637 2000-03-17 Senate Journal Page 2638 Senator Leman led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
