The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Paul Beran, of the Resurrection Lutheran Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. O God, our heavenly Father, we bow in awe and wonder before You: so high and holy, so majestic and powerful. Yet You know each of us by name: our strengths and struggles, our longings and pitfalls. Thank You for this leadership responsibility entrusted to us. Above the clamor of voices, the pressure of lobbyists, and the desire to please our constituents, enable us to hear and obey Thy still small voice within, that we might accomplish that unique purpose that You have for us today. In the Name of Him Who came, not to be served, but to serve; Jesus the Christ. Amen.
