Full Journal pdf2000-01-14 Senate Journal Page 1975 SENATE JOURNAL ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE TWENTY-FIRST LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION Juneau, Alaska Fifth Day Pursuant to adjournment the Senate was called to order by President Pearce at 11:03 a.m. The roll showed fifteen members present. Senators Donley, Tim Kelly, and Miller were excused from a call of the Senate. Senator Halford was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Dr. Robert D. Nicholson, of Chapel by the Lake. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Grateful for the women of the State of Alaska including those who serve this Senate and those who serve in this Senate, Let us Pray. Creator Loving God, Your gifts bless us all in so many ways. We pause to thank You for the women who touch our lives and strengthen our communities. We remember those who are: Instruments of mercy and legislators of good, Savers of patience and spenders of faith, Teachers and mentors from cradle to grave, Rockers of children and shakers of cages, Managers of resources and facilitators of life, Sewers of teddy bears, banners and quilts, Scrubbers of faces and dishes and floors, Tellers of stories and spinners of dreams; 1975 2000-01-14 Senate Journal Page 1976 Bearers of babies and burdens and blessings, Tutors of children and sources of truth, Builders of ego and Habitat houses, Huggers and greeters and makers of peace, Runners of pantries and day care and closets, Mothers and sisters, friends and neighbors, Speakers of wisdom and vessels of grace, Reflectors of hope, here and in every place. Amen. Senator Green led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the fourth legislative day and House and Senate Joint Journal Supplement No. 8 be approved as certified by the Secretary. Unfinished Business Senator Adams moved and asked unanimous consent that he be excused from a call of the Senate on January 19. Without objection, Senator Adams was excused. Senator Lincoln moved and asked unanimous consent that she be allowed to withdraw her previous motion to be excused from a call of the Senate on January 28. Without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Pete Kelly moved and asked unanimous consent that he be excused from a call of the Senate from plane time, January 20 through plane time, January 23. Without objection, Senator Pete Kelly was excused. Adjournment Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the Senate stand in adjournment until 11:00 a.m., January 18, 2000.
