Senators Halford, Phillips were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Tom Moffatt of St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church of Juneau. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. You, O Lord, have revealed to us the great mystery of salvation. You have enabled us, Your humble and unworthy servants, to be ministers in Your service. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, enable us also to perform our duties in a manner pleasing to You, for in all things we wish and hope that Your will shall be done. Amen. Senator Adams led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. The resolution was referred to the Finance Committee. Senator Torgerson, Cochair, moved and asked unanimous consent that the Finance Committee referral be waived on the resolution. Without objection, the resolution was referred to the Rules Committee. Rules Committee Report dated September 27 was read stating: In compliance with AS 24.10.030 and Uniform Rule 3(a), the Senate Rules Committee hereby reports its nomination of Heidi Vogel to serve as Secretary of the Senate for the Second Session of the Twenty-First Legislature and recommends election by the Senate.
