Pursuant to adjournment the Senate was called to order by President            
Pearce at 11:12 a.m.                                                           
                                                                               
The roll showed twenty members present.                                        
                                                                               
The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Tom Moffatt of the              
St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church of Juneau. Senator Hoffman              
moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread.                   
Without objection, it was so ordered.                                          
                                                                               
In peace, let us pray to the Lord. For the peace                              
from above, for the salvation of our souls, let us                             
pray to the Lord. For the peace of the whole world,                            
for the welfare of the holy churches of God, for the                           
union of all mankind, let us pray to the Lord. For                             
this State of Alaska, for every city, country, and                             
every faithful dwelling in them, let us pray to the                            
Lord. For seasonable weather, for abundance of the                             
earth, for peaceful times, let us pray to the Lord.                            
For travelers on the sea and air, let us pray to the                           
Lord. For the sick, for captives and their salvation,                          
let us pray to the Lord. For our deliverance from all                          
affliction, anger, danger and necessity, let us pray to                        
the Lord. Help us, save us, have mercy on us and                               
keep us, Oh God, by Your grace.             Amen.

Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal              
for the one hundred eighteenth legislative day be approved as                  
certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered.              
                                                                               
                                                                               
                                    Recess                                   
                                                                               
Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the Senate               
stand in recess to the Joint Session. Without objection, the Senate            
recessed at 11:15 a.m.                                                         
                                                                               
                          Joint Session in the House                         
                                                                               
Speaker Porter called the House to order and in accordance with                
Uniform Rule 51 turned the gavel over to President Pearce, who                 
called the Joint Session to order at 11:30 a.m.                                
                                                                               
The purpose of the Joint Session was to consider the confirmation              
of the Governors appointments.                                                 
                                                                               
The roll of the House was taken and showed thirty-seven members                
present. Representatives Austerman, Moses were absent. Repre-                  
sentative Joule was excused from a call of the House.                          
                                                                               
The roll of the Senate was called and showed twenty members                    
present.
