The Senate was called to order at 11:03 a.m. by the Honorable Fran Ulmer, Lieutenant Governor. Cadets Henry Wyatt, Molly Marvel, Rick See, and Tara Free of the Alaska Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, accompanied by Captain Gerrit Dalman, presented the colors. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, in the days ahead, we will bow our heads and hearts before You many times to seek guidance, ask for wisdom and pray for Alaska, its people and its leadership. However, on this first day of the Twenty-first Legislature, we ask for nothing. Rather, we humbly acknowledge that You are God Almighty, our Lord and Creator. 1 1999-01-19 Senate Journal Page 0002 We give thanks that no problem or challenge that we face will be beyond the scope of Your wisdom, Your foresight, or Your creative ability. And, because of that, we commit ourselves to daily stand before You with open hearts and listening ears, grateful that You are willing to share with us from Your unlimited perspective. We further commit that, when things go well during our watch, we will remain humble and continue to acknowledge our dependence upon You. In Christs Name we pray. Amen.
