Representatives Barnes and Williams were absent and their presence was noted later. Representative Green moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Dyson be excused from a call of the House from today to 9:30 p.m., plane time, February 21, 1999. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Brian Ewing of the Calvary Fellowship. Representative Bunde moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: 'Since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.' (Romans 1:28) 'In his pride the wicked does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.' (Psalms 10:4) Let's pray, Lord, to whom can we go if we reject Your right to govern us? How can we possibly think to improve our lot in life by forgetting You? Like a mountain climber cutting free of his rappelling gear or like sheep who wander away from their shepherd, we have thought we could improve our lives by cutting free from our maker. In the end, we have found that 1999-02-17 House Journal Page 0232 we have only deepened our trouble and wounded ourselves. Instead, cause us to take to heart the words of King Solomon who said, 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.' (Proverbs 3:5-6) As we make room for You, as we look to You for help, take what is twisted and make it straight for us today. We ask this in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ. Amen The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Murkowski. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Green moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 29th legislative day be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
