Proverbs: ...the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 1997-03-20 House Journal Page 0768 He layeth up sound wisdom and righteousness. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. Dear Father-Mother God: We begin this day with a sense of gratitude and joy for the privilege of working together in the continuing governance of our state. We acknowledge that all true wisdom and understanding has its origin in You, infinite divine Mind. Help us to listen for Your guidance, so that we may each feel renewed and deeper unity of purpose and direction through the inspiration of Your ideas, and help each of us lay aside the divisiveness of pride and personal opinions which would hinder our progress. Give us the courage to honestly examine the motives inspiring our thoughts and intentions and the humility to ask Your help in uplifting and improving them so they cannot take shape in unworthy action. Teach each of us to love our fellow man more deeply so that we earnestly desire to bless each individual who will be touched by the work undertaken here today. Bless each individual present so that their work will be 'acceptable in Thy sight.' Amen The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Kott.
