present, let us pray:

Gracious God, author of love that is patient and kind, we pray
that You would challenge us to give new meaning to this day.
Encourage us to love those for whom no Valentines will
arrive. Empower us to share Your love with those who are
lost or left out. Entrust us with love to children and youth,
love that translates into care and compassion.

Most loving God, we give You thanks for the love in our
lives, love that has shaped us, and molded us, and carried us,
and held us close. For love shared, and love spoken, we give
You thanks. Amen.
