The roll showed twelve members present. Senator Salo was excused from a call of the Senate. Senators Ellis, Frank, Kelly, Lincoln, Pearce, Phillips, Rieger were absent. Senator Taylor moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy great purpose. May they follow Thy commandments and abide in Thy law. Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee. O God! Without objection, it was so ordered. Representative Phillips moved and asked unanimous consent that the roll call of the House be waived and all members be shown as present. Without objection, it was so ordered. President Halford appointed Representative Olberg and Senator Phillips to escort U.S. Senator Stevens to the Joint Session. The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms announced U.S. Senator Stevens' entrance to the House Chamber. The Honorable Ted Stevens was escorted to the rostrum and introduced by President Halford. U.S. Senator Stevens delivered his address. This address appears in Senate and House Joint Journal Supplement No. 19. Following his address, there was a question and answer period. President Halford presented U.S. Senator Ted Stevens with a Legislative Citation honoring him for his twenty-five years of service to Alaska. U.S. Senator Stevens received a standing ovation and was escorted from the chamber by Senator Phillips and Representative Olberg. Senator Taylor moved and asked unanimous consent that the Joint Session stand in adjournment.
