Senator Salo was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Johnny Reimer of the Auke Bay Bible Church. Senator Zharoff moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Our God and Heavenly Father, we are grateful for Your mercy and grace in that You have allowed us to see the light of another new day. Give us the wisdom so that we may use the hours of this day properly, to complete the tasks that have been assigned to us. Today we would intercede in behalf of the children and youth of our State and Nation. Dear God, keep them safe from the forces of sin and evil that are bent on destroying them. We ask that much love, wisdom, patience, and self discipline would be granted to the parents to be the models for these children and youth which they desperately need. We pray for the teachers, and others working with our children that they shall be able to impart to them, by instruction and example, those realities that will properly shape their lives. In these days of gathering gloom we pray for our families and 733 1993-03-11 Senate Journal Page 0734 Churches that they will be the light to guide us in the way of truth. Grant us, Oh Lord, the discernment and the courage to set our hearts more upon the spiritual things of life rather than the material; upon eternal realities more than on the present. Give us the strength to use this present to do Your will, and to faithfully serve our present generation. Amen. Senator Kerttula led the Senate in the pledge of allegiance.
