00 SENATE BILL NO. 152 01 "An Act establishing September 11 of each year as Patriot Day." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 44.12 is amended by adding a new section to article 2 to read: 04 Sec. 44.12.165. Patriot Day. Patriot Day is established on September 11 of 05 each year to commemorate the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 06 2001, and to honor the individuals who died or were injured in the attacks, the 07 courageous first responders and other individuals who gave their lives to save others 08 during the attacks, and the brave individuals who continue to serve and protect our 09 nation, including military personnel, first responders, and health care providers, from 10 violent acts. The governor shall direct that the Alaska flag be flown at half-mast on 11 that day. Patriot Day may be observed by suitable observances and exercises by civic 12 groups and the public.
