01 "An Act relating to program receipts; and relating to fees for school bus inspections."                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 14.09.030 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
04            (c)  Subject to AS 37.10.050, the department may establish by regulation a fee                               
05       to cover the cost of the school bus inspections required under (b)(2) of this section. A                          
06       fee established under this subsection must be charged to the school bus operator.                                 
07    * Sec. 2. AS 37.05.146(b) is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                            
08                 (90)  fees collected by the Department of Education and Early                                           
09       Development for the inspection of school buses under AS 14.09.030.                                                
10    * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
11 read:                                                                                                                   
12       APPLICABILITY. AS 14.09.030(c), enacted by sec. 1 of this Act, applies to a                                       
13 contract for the transportation of school children entered into on or after the effective date of                       
14 this Act.
