03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                             
04      WHEREAS perianesthesia nurses improve the health care of individuals through                                     
05 changing medical practices and ongoing innovations of technology and treatment; and                                     
06      WHEREAS perianesthesia nurses continue to advance the art and science of                                         
07 preanesthesia care, postanesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, and pain management; and                                   
08      WHEREAS perianesthesia nurses are an influential force for perianesthesia patient                                
09 safety, public policy, and practice standards; and                                                                      
10      WHEREAS perianesthesia nurses are an indispensible resource for perianesthesia                                   
11 education and knowledge exchange worldwide; and                                                                         
12      WHEREAS members of the Northwest Perianesthesia Nurses' Association and the                                      
13 American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses will meet in Fairbanks this year;                                             
14      BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature respectfully requests Governor                                  
15 Palin to proclaim the week of February 4 - 10, 2008, as Perianesthesia Nurses Week to honor                             
16 the work provided to all individuals who have received and will receive care from a                                     
17 perianesthesia nurse.
