01 "An Act relating to directional signs to places of public assembly."                                                    
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 19.25.105 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04            (f)  The department shall install and maintain within or adjacent to the right-of-                           
05       way of an interstate, primary, or secondary highway in this state a directional sign to a                         
06       place of public assembly upon receipt of the written request of the operator of the                               
07       place of public assembly.  A sign installed under this subsection is an official sign.                            
08       The department may charge an annual fee equal to the actual, direct cost of installing                            
09       and maintaining the sign.  For purposes of this subsection, "place of public assembly"                            
10       includes a public or private meeting hall, assembly hall, school, church, or other                                
11       structure that is open to the public and is used for public assembly.
