01 "An Act relating to management of game."                                                                                
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 16.05.050 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04  (c)  The commissioner shall accord a high priority to the implementation of                                           
05 programs and regulations adopted by the Board of Game under AS 16.05.255(e) - (i)                                       
06 and shall allocate fiscal and staff resources of the department as necessary to                                         
07 implement those programs and regulations in a timely and effective manner.                                              
08    * Sec. 2.  AS 16.05.255 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                             
09  (i)  Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, in an area for which the                                      
10 board has adopted regulations under (e) of this section to provide for intensive                                        
11 management of an identified big game prey population, a person may take a wolf on                                       
12 the same day the person was airborne; however, a person may not shoot a wolf from                                       
13 the air under this subsection.  For purposes of this subsection, a valid hunting or                                     
14 trapping license is a permit to take a wolf on the same day airborne for purposes of                                    

01 protecting wildlife, and no additional permit may be required by the board or                                           
02 department as a prerequisite to taking a wolf on the same day airborne.                                                 
03    * Sec. 3.  AS 16.05.783(b) is amended to read:                                                                     
04  (b)  This section does not apply to                                                                                   
05   (1)  a person who was airborne the same day if that person was airborne                                              
06 only on a regularly scheduled commercial flight; or                                                                     
07   (2)  an employee  or agent  of the department who, as part of a game                                               
08 management program, is authorized to shoot or to assist in shooting wolf, wolverine,                                    
09 fox, or lynx on the same day that the employee  or agent  has been airborne.
