00HOUSE BILL NO. 27 01 "An Act relating to graduate student loans; and providing for an effective date." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 14.42.030(d) is amended to read: 04 (d) The commission may enter into agreements with government or 05 postsecondary education officials of this state or other states to provide postsecondary 06 educational services and programs to Alaska residents pursuing a graduate 07 [MEDICAL] education program . An agreement with another state must be limited 08 to services and programs that are unavailable in Alaska. The commission shall require 09 a person participating in a 10 (1) medical education program offered under this subsection to agree 11 to the repayment condition imposed under AS 14.44.040 ; 12 (2) Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education graduate 13 education program to agree to repay to the state the financial support provided 14 to that person by the state .
01 * Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to a person who receives financial aid from 02 the state under AS 14.42.030(d)(2) on or after July 1, 1999. 03 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect July 1, 1999.
