00CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 291(TRA)                                                                                        
01 "An Act requiring certain motor vehicles to yield to following traffic."                                                
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 28.35.140 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04  (b)  A person operating a motor vehicle on a two-lane roadway shall pull the                                          
05 motor vehicle off the roadway at the first opportunity to safely pull over whenever                                     
06 there is at least 100 feet of visible and unobstructed roadway in front of that motor                                   
07 vehicle and there are five or more motor vehicles immediately following that motor                                      
08 vehicle.  A person who violates this subsection is guilty of an infraction as described                                 
09 in AS 28.40.050(d) and shall be punished by a fine of at least $100.
