01 "An Act relating to deep freeze classics; and providing for an effective date."                                         
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 05.15.100(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
04  (a)  The department may issue a permit to a municipality or qualified                                                 
05 organization. The permit gives the municipality or qualified organization the privilege                                 
06 of conducting bingo, raffles and lotteries, pull-tab games, ice classics, rain classics,                                
07 goose classics, mercury classics, deep freeze classics, canned salmon classics, salmon                                
08 classics, king salmon classics, dog mushers' contests, fish derbies, and contests of skill.                             
09    * Sec. 2.  AS 05.15.115(c) is amended to read:                                                                       
10  (c)  A permittee may not contract with more than one operator at a time to                                            
11 conduct the same type of activity. For the purposes of this subsection, bingo games,                                    
12 raffles, lotteries, pull-tab games, ice classics, rain classics, goose classics, mercury                                
13 classics, deep freeze classics, canned salmon classics, salmon classics, king salmon                                  
14 classics, dog mushers' contests, fish derbies, contests of skill, and all activities                                    

01 permitted under AS 05.15.100(b) are each a different type of activity.                                                  
02    * Sec. 3.  AS 05.15.180(b) is amended to read:                                                                       
03  (b)  With the exception of raffles, lotteries, bingo games, pull-tab games, rain                                      
04 classics, goose classics, mercury classics, deep freeze classics, canned salmon classics,                             
05 salmon classics, king salmon classics, and other activities authorized under                                            
06 AS 05.15.100(b), an activity may not be licensed under this chapter unless it existed                                   
07 in the state in substantially the same form and was conducted in substantially the same                                 
08 manner before January 1, 1959.                                                                                          
09    * Sec. 4.  AS 05.15.690 is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                                
10   (42)  "deep freeze classic" means a game of chance where a prize of                                                  
11 money is awarded to the closest guess of the date, time, and temperature of the lowest                                  
12 temperature recorded at a specific location in the Delta Junction area on the coldest                                   
13 day during December through February, inclusive, and is limited to the deep freeze                                      
14 classic operated and administered by the Delta Chamber of Commerce.                                                     
15    * Sec. 5.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
