00HOUSE BILL NO. 424 01 "An Act establishing a vehicle operation curfew for minors." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 28.35 is amended by adding a new section to read: 04 Sec. 28.35.265. VEHICLE OPERATION CURFEW. (a) A person under 17 05 years of age for whom the disabilities of minority have not been removed for general 06 purposes under AS 09.55.590 and who has not arrived at the age of majority under 07 AS 25.20.020 may not operate a motor vehicle between the hours of midnight and 5:00 08 a.m. unless the person is 09 (1) accompanied by the person's parent or guardian; 10 (2) engaged in an employment activity, or going to or returning from 11 an employment activity, without detour or stop; or 12 (3) attending, going to, or returning from a school activity, without 13 detour or stop. 14 (b) Vehicle operation curfew is a traffic statute for purposes of
01 AS 47.10.010(b). 02 (c) Violation of vehicle operation curfew under this section is an infraction.
