00HOUSE BILL NO. 418 01 "An Act relating to salaries for certain officers and employees who are not 02 members of a collective bargaining unit; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 39.27.011 is amended by adding new subsections to read: 05  (e) Effective July 1, 1996, the amounts set out in the salary schedule contained 06 in (a) of this section are increased by the lesser of 07  (1) 1.5 percent; or 08  (2) one-half of the percentage increase in the U.S. Department of 09 Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for 10 Anchorage, Alaska, from the second half of 1994 to the second half of 1995. 11  (f) Effective July 1, 1997, the amounts set out in the salary schedule contained 12 in (a) of this section, as increased under (e) of this section, are increased by the lesser 13 of 14  (1) 1.5 percent; or

01  (3) one-half of the percentage increase in the U.S. Department of 02 Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for 03 Anchorage, Alaska, from the second half of 1995 to the second half of 1996. 04  (g) Effective July 1, 1998, the amounts set out in the salary schedule contained 05 in (a) of this section, as increased under (e) and (f) of this section, are increased by 06 the lesser of 07  (1) 1.5 percent; or 08  (2) one-half of the percentage increase in the U.S. Department of 09 Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for 10 Anchorage, Alaska, from the second half of 1996 to the second half of 1997. 11 * Sec. 2. EMPLOYEES OF THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH AND CERTAIN EXEMPT 12 EMPLOYEES OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH. The following employees are entitled to 13 receive salary adjustments comparable to those received by the classified and partially exempt 14 employees of the executive branch under AS 39.27.011(e) - (g), as enacted by sec. 1 of this 15 Act: 16 (1) legislators and permanent and temporary employees of the legislative 17 branch, including staff of the ombudsman's office; 18 (2) permanent and temporary employees of the executive branch who are in 19 the exempt service under AS 39.25, who are not members of a collective bargaining unit 20 established under the Public Employment Relations Act (AS 23.40), and who are not 21 otherwise covered by AS 39.27.011(a). 22 * Sec. 3. EMPLOYEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA. The employees of the 23 University of Alaska who are not members of a collective bargaining unit are entitled to 24 receive salary increases in accordance with the compensation policy of the board of regents 25 of the University of Alaska. 26 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect July 1, 1996.
