01 "An Act relating to the interview requirements of the State Medical Board."                                             
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 08.64.255 is amended to read:                                                                       
04  Sec. 08.64.255.  INTERVIEWS.  An applicant [INTERVIEW REQUIRED.                                                     
05 ALL APPLICANTS] for licensure may [SHALL] be interviewed in person by [AT                                             
06 LEAST ONE MEMBER OF] the board or by a member of the board before a                                                   
07 license is [WILL BE] issued.  The interview must be recorded.  If the application is                                  
08 denied on the basis of the interview, the denial shall [MUST] be stated in writing, with                              
09 the reasons for it, and the record shall [MUST] be preserved.                                                         
10    * Sec. 2.  AS 08.64.279 is amended to read:                                                                          
11  Sec. 08.64.279.  INTERVIEW [REQUIRED] FOR PERMITS.  An applicant                                                      
12 for an intern permit, a resident permit, or a temporary permit for locum tenens practice                               
13 may [SHALL] be interviewed in person by the board, a [AT LEAST ONE] member                                           
14 of the board, the executive secretary of the board, or a person designated for that
