STATEMENT:My name is Carolyn Hall, and I'm running to represent the Turnagain, Spenard, and Sand Lake neighborhoods. I've lived in Turnagain for over eight years and have worked within state and local administrations to gain the knowledge and experience needed for this role. Alaska is more than a home to me—it's a place of deep relationships and opportunity. I've grown a successful business, held significant community roles, and married my husband, Scott, whose family settled in West Anchorage in 1949. I'm the only Democratic candidate running in this race, and I'm honored to be endorsed by Rep. Jennie Armstrong, Sen. Matt Claman, Anchorage Democrats President Michelle Turner, NEA-Alaska, The Alaska Center, Anchorage Central Labor Council, and many others. The Alaska I fell in love with has changed. Neighbors in our district have shared stories of families leaving the state due to declining education quality, with the governor's veto of education funding being the last straw for many. We must work together to put Alaska back on the right path.
As a legislator, my priorities are:
•Fully funding public education and inflation-proofing the Base Student Allocation (BSA)
•Ensuring fair compensation and dignified retirement packages for teachers and public workers
•Defending LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive rights
•Providing affordable and accessible childcare and early education options
•Protecting workers' rights and opposing attempts to weaken our unions
•Fixing the structural deficit to create fiscal stability and economic confidence
I'm committed to earning your support to help our community thrive.
