Summary:

Representative Carolyn Hall was elected to the Alaska State House of Representatives in 2024 and serves the Anchorage neighborhoods of Turnagain, Spenard, and Sand Lake. Carolyn comes from a family where the value of public service was instilled early on. Her father taught in public schools for over 30 years, and her mother’s dedicated service on the local school board for 12 years profoundly influenced her passion for education.

Carolyn moved to Alaska in 2008 and quickly fell in love with its people, culture, and unparalleled natural beauty. Prior to being elected to office, Carolyn worked as an award-winning television news photojournalist, served in various government communications positions, started a successful business, and proudly earned her master’s degree in public administration from UAA. Carolyn’s public service portfolio includes serving as Municipality of Anchorage Communications Director (2020-2021), Office of the Governor Communications Manager (2018), and Anchorage Municipal Clerk’s Office Education and Outreach Manager (2017-2018).

Prior to taking office, Carolyn served in various board positions on the Turnagain Community Council, before serving as treasurer of the Federation of Community Councils. Additionally, she served on the Anchorage Budget Advisory Commission and the Anchorage Women’s Commission. She continues to volunteer her time at the Food Bank of Alaska at the Jewel Lake Mobile Food Pantry. She is honored to represent the West Anchorage community of which she’s called home for a decade.
