OTHER :
After spending my career in public service, I'm ready to serve East Anchorage and fight for education, jobs, and public safety. I will focus on the concerns my neighbors are bringing up at my thousands of door knocks. I grew up in rural America where I learned the value of hard work, community, and giving back. If elected, I will bring that same can-do attitude to Juneau, and will work hard to represent the people of Northeast Anchorage.
STATEMENT :
Improve our education system: Alaska will succeed when our schools are strong. We should start by raising the Base Student Allocation and inflation-proof it to make sure our educators have the resources they need to teach our kids. We should expand the role of public education to make sure it serves the needs of more students by increasing access to career and technical education. Public safety: Public safety is very important to me and my neighbors in East Anchorage. I've been out knocking doors and voters consistently tell me that feeling safe in their homes and neighborhoods is a priority for them. If elected, I will oppose any laws that weaken our ability to take bad actors off the street. Likewise, I will advocate for sufficient budgets to fund an efficient and robust criminal justice system so arrests are processed efficiently and effectively. I will push for a defined benefit pension option for public employees to address the large vacancy rate in unfilled public safety positions (for example, APD currently has over 80 vacant positions!). Help create jobs and bolster small businesses: I will fight to help working families attain good jobs via investments that bolster workforce training and public education programs. Seeking solutions to the childcare and affordable housing crises will also be priorities. I will work to remove barriers faced by small businesses, including adequately funding the state government so businesses and citizens can receive the timely and quality governmental services they expect.
