OTHER:I am Koyukon Athabascan with deep roots in Alaska. I was born and raised in Fairbanks, the town where I met my husband John, a smokejumper, and where we raised our two great kids. Before being elected as the Representative for HD31, I was a teacher for over 21 years. It is an honor to serve my community and be a voice for Fairbanks working families.
STATEMENT:I’ve lived in Fairbanks for my entire life. I care deeply about this community. In 2022, I ran with a promise to truly represent all people of Fairbanks. Over the last two years, I have done just that by championing education, privacy rights, affordable childcare, and projects that create good jobs.
MY PRIORITIES ARE:
EDUCATION: I was a teacher for 22 years, and I have seen firsthand the challenges our students are facing, especially as class sizes grow and more schools close. I will keep fighting to make sure every Fairbanks student has the opportunity to get an education that will set them up for success in life.
PROTECTING THE PFD: I am fighting for large PFDs that can be sustained for generations.
BALANCED BUDGET: I advocate for fiscally responsible budgets that don’t draw from savings.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: I continue to promote resource development. I support our trade unions and their emphasis on training and hiring Alaskans. I am working with colleagues and businesses to design solutions that promote workforce development, recruitment, and retention.
AFFORDABLE ENERGY: We need to lower the cost of energy in Fairbanks. I’m working to bring more natural gas to Fairbanks and to diversify the grid with more sources including renewables.
SENIORS: Fairbanks should be a place that supports our elders by providing activities, services, and health care, allowing senior residents to stay in our community and maintain a high quality of life.
