ACTION NARRATIVE CHAIR GARY STEVENS called the Senate Rules Standing Committee meeting to order at 8:35:28 AM. Present at the call to order were Senators Gary Stevens, Lyda Green and Gene Therriault. ^Lam Lighting Approval CHAIR STEVENS asked Pam Varni to explain the issue. PAM VARNI, Executive Director, Legislative Affairs Agency, explained that the ceiling in both the House and Senate Chambers had to be taken out because of the fire alarm and sprinkler system installation. They found that the lights in the Chambers were outdated and installation of new light fixtures and ceiling was put out to bid. Next interim the wall finishes would be updated. She said the item before them was to purchase the large lighting pendants that would go in the House and Senate Chambers. These are long-lead items and need to be purchased soon or the project could be delayed. They had four bidders, and Stetzer Electric, Anchorage, was the low bidder. SENATOR GREEN moved to approve purchase of the Lam Lighting in the amount of $36,270. A roll call vote was taken. Senators Stevens, Green and Therriault voted yea; and the motion carried. There being no further business to come before the committee, Chair Stevens adjourned the meeting at 8:38:05 AM.
