SB 266 - See Resources minutes dated 3/1/00. ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 00-4, SIDE A CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 11:42 a.m. All members were present. SENATOR LEMAN moved to calendar, at the Chairman's discretion, all versions of SB 204-EXTEND ALASKA COMMISSION ON AGING with individual recommendations and accompanying fiscal notes. There being no objection, the motion carried. SENATOR LEMAN moved to calendar, at the Chairman's discretion, all versions of SB 266-MARINE ANTI-FOULING PAINTS with individual recommendations and accompanying fiscal notes. SENATOR ELLIS objected and asked for an explanation of the bill. SENATOR LEMAN explained a ban on the use of TBT paint was placed in statute in 1987 with certain exceptions: U.S. government vessels, vessels over 4,000 gross tons, and foreign vessels in the state less than 90 days. SB 266 removes the exemption in that after January 1, 2001, TBT-based paint can no longer be applied to those vessels. SENATOR ELLIS removed his objection therefore the motion carried. There being no further business to come before the committee, CHAIRMAN KELLY adjourned the meeting at 11:44 a.m.
