ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 98-6 , SIDE A CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 12:25 p.m., and noted the presence of Senators Leman, Taylor, Torgerson, Duncan and Kelly. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 190 - ATTEMPT TO PURCHASE BEFORE EMINENT DOMAIN before the committee as the first order of business. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent SB 190 be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought CSHB 370(FIN) - APPROPRIATION: 1997 FISHERY DISASTER before the committee as the next order of business. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent CSHB 370(FIN) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought CSHB 451(JUD) - ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY & MOBILITY AIDS before the committee as the next order of business. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent CSHB 451(JUD) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought HB 484 - UNEMPLOY EXEMPT AMATEUR SPORTS OFFICIAL before the committee. He opened the public hearing on the legislation and noted a companion bill, SB 349, previously had hearings in the Senate Labor & Commerce Committee and the Senate Finance Committee. There being no public testimony on HB 484, CHAIRMAN KELLY requested a motion on the legislation. SENATOR LEMAN moved HB 484 be passed out of committee with individual recommendations and that it be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 319 - ARBITRATION back before the committee. The legislation was returned to the Rules Committee from the Senate floor on April 14 and April 21. However, because there was a problem with a proposed Rules CS, he stated the legislation would be held over to the following day. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought HJR 22 - ALASKA/RUSSIA MARITIME BOUNDARY before the committee and directed attention to a proposed Rules SCS. SENATOR LEMAN moved the adoption of SCS HJR 22(RLS). Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR TAYLOR moved and asked unanimous consent SCS HJR 22(RLS) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair.
