ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 97-7, SIDE A CHAIRMAN LEMAN called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 11:34 a.m. He noted the presence of Senators Miller, Duncan, Taylor, Torgerson and Leman. CHAIRMAN LEMAN reviewed the committee agenda and requested calendaring motions on the legislation. SENATOR TAYLOR moved SB 107 (APPROPS:CAPITAL, REAPPROP, FUNDS, OPERATING) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. SENATOR DUNCAN objected. There being no further objections, CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated the calendaring motion carried on a 4-1 vote. SENATOR TAYLOR moved CSHB 83(STA) (REGULATION OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR TAYLOR moved HB 146 (PUPIL COMPETENCY TESTING) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. SENATOR DUNCAN objected. There being no further objections, CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated the calendaring motion carried on a 4-1 vote. There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
