WITNESS REGISTER Senator Bert Sharp State Capitol Juneau, AK 99801-1182 POSITION STATEMENT: Prime Sponsor of SB 222 ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 97-2, SIDE A CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 10:50 a.m. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 19 (REPEAL FED ENFORCEMENT DUTIES/F&G COMSNR) before the committee. There being no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent SB 19 be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 22 (BOARD OF GAME QUALIFICATIONS) before the committee. SENATOR BERT SHARP , prime sponsor of SB 22, explained that at the suggestion of Senator Lincoln, a Resources committee substitute was adopted which provides that the appointed members must have held a resident hunting or trapping license during at least five of the previous seven years preceding the appointment to the board. The original bill limits it to five continuous years preceding the appointment. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent SB 22 be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought HJR 12 (LEASES IN NATL PETROLEUM RESERVE) before the committee as the final order of business. There being no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent HJR 12 be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
