Norman Carson SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 7 Supporting continued funding of the Alaska National Guard Youth Corps Challenge Program. ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 97-1, SIDE A Number 001 CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 11:15 a.m., and noted all members were present. The first order of business was consideration of a professional services contract for Larry Norman Carson in the amount of $18,200. CHAIRMAN KELLY explained the contract is for providing the Legislature with armed security services from January 6, 1997 until one day following the adjournment of the regular session. The contract is basically the same contract as year, with the exception that Mr. Carson was put on staff a week earlier so that he could attend the legislative orientation sessions. SENATOR TAYLOR moved approval of the sole source contract for Larry Norman Carson, dba Carson and Associates, in the amount of $18,200. Hearing no objection, CHAIRMAN KELLY stated the sole source contract was approved. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SJR 7 (AK NAT'L GUARD YOUTH CORPS CHALLENGE PROG) before the committee as the final order of business. SENATOR TAYLOR moved SJR 7 be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 11:17 a.m.
