WITNESS REGISTER Linda Giguere, Staff to Representative Bill Hudson State Capitol Juneau, AK 99801-1182 POSITION STATEMENT: Testified in support of SCS HB 221(L&C) ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 94-35, SIDE A Number 001 CHAIRMAN TIM KELLY called the Senate Labor and Commerce Committee meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. He brought HB 221 (WORKERS COMP:VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS, ETC) before the committee as the only order of business and directed attention to a proposed L&C SCS. LINDA GIGUERE, staff to Representative Bill Hudson, stated his support for the L&C SCS. She explained it simply extends the scope of duties of a fire fighter that are covered under workers compensation to include participation in training exercises that are authorized by the state. JOSH FINK, committee aide, added that the Alaska Municipal League supports the legislation. CHAIRMAN KELLY asked for a motion on the committee substitute. SENATOR SHARP moved that SCS HB 221(L&C) be adopted. Hearing no objection, the motion carried. SENATOR SHARP moved that HB 221 be passed out of committee with individual recommendations. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
